ABC WEDNESDAY "N" IS FOR NEGATIVES AND DREAMSCAPES

Here I go for "N" but before that I have a little whinge. Last week's ABC slot (M) did not appear to draw much attention or comments. I don't know if it was because of the content or the fact that it was below another post. I left comments on many peoples blogs, you know all the usual ones but many did not comment on mine. So, I feel a little dejected (it's a human emotion Jim).

If it was the content please let me know. As you are all aware blogging is a time consuming affair with writing your own and viewing other peoples blogs and commenting, OK like many people I am an attention seeker.

Therefore this week something a little different "N" IS FOR NEGATIVES AND DREAMSCAPES. These are shots taken from the Rocky Mountaineer on our Canada trip. I have inverted them in photoshop to negatives and added a moon that I got a shot of while on the cruise ship. The moon is quite clear because there is very little pollution in the sky. Hope you like. There are 2 versions of each shot, some slightly different. On the 2nd photo I have desaturated to remove all colour and turned them into mono negatives.

The second one is definately my favourite, kinda what I imagine a moonscape to look like. Very Cool.

That's what I was going to say too. Your shots look like moon scapes and are clever. The last one feels like I am own in a crater.

WOW... I'm speechless.

I can't imagine anyone being offended at your "M"...possibly readers didn't understand to use the sliding sidebar and with the title being More to be revealed..were thinking there would be another post? Just a thought :o)
These photos are magnificent. How clever to be able to do so many wonderful things with your shots.
Happy ABC hunting

I agree about the second shot being best - removing the colour is usually good for creating an aetherial effect -- the presence of human artefacts in the other pics doesn't help I think -- I use Paintshop Pro and that has an "aged newspaper" setting which often proves effective and might enhance the effect you seem to be trying for here.

Kate, photowannabe, nicole, ruth, ackworth. Thanks for your comments, I too prefer the 2nd shot.

Ruth, I take your point but most peolpe who are able to create and format a blog should be able to understand a scroll bar. Also the post above the "M" states that that post has been created.

Ackworth, the effect I am trying for is not necessarily an earthly one, it could be any planet in the universe with a moon. This could be thousandfs of years down the line where the moon may have moved closer to the earth.

I think they're a great bunch of shots. Very surreal.

I like the second one too, the fact that it is black and white allows us to portray the shapes/effects in our won way, more imagination on our part to translate the meaning!

(Gosh sounds a bit profound....but hope you get my drift!)

These are crazy moon shots. Love them all.

The negative effects are marvelous.

p.s. adding you to my ABC list, I just started, when you all were on L.

Hi Peter - I wondered if the content of your 'M' may have 'surprised' some readers but then again, not in this day and age surely.

I love playing with photographs but I'm not as clever with saturation levels and channel mixers etc. so I envy your skills. That's a great moon, I've yet to take a satisfactory night photo. :(

I never got around to too many posts last week, heck I cant even remember why now but must have been busy.
Anyway, these are incredible shots. As an old slide shooter, I am having a hard time getting into working in photoshop but am being dragged into the modern age.
Oh for the days of they were good, or they were in the trash can!

I like your 3rd picture but then I don't much about photography..I just point and shoot....and your comment about "if you can create and format a blog you should be able to understand a scroll bar." humph is what I say. Not all of us are that adept at the computer....it took me awhile to figure it out and then I was good to go....sorry...I am just not that computer savvy....and sometimes when I leave a comment for you, it bounces back to me and I don't have a clue as to why that is....but don't let people not commenting stop you from blogging...sometimes we catch up later.

Nope, I am hard to upset!! Just pointing out that some of us aren't quite that "quick" and it takes us a while!!! I also wonder what makes people comment and others not...oldmanlincoln was going to do a blog on that but I never saw it...you keep on blogging and using those scroll balls! I am impressed that you can do that kind of stuff. I was impressed when Fenix told me how to put a link in. I felt so computer smart!

Wow.... I know that's been said before but.... WOW! I just linked over from another blog you commented on and I am SO GLAD I DID! What I love best about these is the MOON. I am just learning how to do things in PS Elements - so I am not sure if it has this same "negative" feature that you are using. I need to take some time and thoroughly read what you've posted. These are REALLY NICE! I'll be back.
